IDF Foils Third Terror Attack in Three Days

A planned terror attack in Israel was thwarted on Sunday evening, for the third time in several days.According to a report on Channel 2 News, Border Polices officers arrested a 17-year-old Palestinian Authority Arab teen at a checkpoint near the Tapuach junction in Samaria. Upon inspection, the teen was found to be in possession of three pipe bombs. The teen was arrested and taken for questioning, while the explosive devices were detonated by sappers in a controlled explosion.

Erodgan Says Assad 'Losing Grip' on Syria

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that President Bashar Assad's grip on Syria is getting weaker by the day and “victory is close,” according to a report in The Associated Press.Erdogan’s remarks were made in an address to thousands of cheering Syrians who fled a brutal crackdown on an anti-regime uprising.“Bashar is losing blood day by day,” Erdogan was quoted by AP as having told a crowd at a refugee camp near the town of Kilis, just across from Syria.


Syria begins first parliamentary elections under new constitution


Syrians have begun voting in the first parliamentary elections under a new constitution approved by an overwhelming support of the people in a February referendum.Voting has started in polling stations across Syria as about 7,195 candidates, including independent and opposition figures, are running for 250 parliamentary seats.The Syrian government has assured that it will provide all cities across the country with any requirements for the elections.

 
Jordanian news site Ahbar Baladna reports that western spy satellites have recently spotted movements of Syrian heavy missile launchers northward and southward, toward Syria's borders with Turkey and Israel.The site says hundreds of high-caliber launchers are being moved, and that these could only be long range Scud missile launchers.

 'Al-Qaeda' kills 20 Yemen troops after leader eliminated

Suspected Al-Qaeda gunmen killed at least 20 soldiers in attacks on two army posts in southern Yemen on Monday, a day after a wanted top militant died in an air raid, a military official said.Jihadists attacked the military posts outside the city of Zinjibar, which they have controlled since May last year, said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity.Four officers were among those killed, he said.The attacks came after Yemeni Al-Qaeda leader Fahd al-Quso, who was wanted in connection with the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, was killed in an air strike in eastern Yemen on Sunday.

The October 2000 attack on the U.S. Navy destroyer, the USS Cole, in Yemen’s port of Aden killed 17 sailors and wounded 40 more.“Fahd al-Quso, who was wanted by the United States for the attack against the USS Cole, was killed tonight (Sunday) in an American raid on the Rafadh region” in the Shabwa province, a tribal chief Abdel Magid bin Farid al-Awlaqi has said, according to AFP.

 Change of French presidents weakens Western front against nuclear Iran

Two stalwarts of the Western confrontation against a nuclear-armed Iran suffered election defeats this week: Nicolas Sarkozy was swept out of the Elysee by the Socialist leader Francois Hollande Sunday, May 6. Three days earlier, the two parties forming UK Prime Minister David Cameron’s government coalition were trounced in local elections across Britain. Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who faces an election in four months, never imagined he would be left so quickly on shifting sands against the Iranian nuclear threat.

There Are 100 Million Working Age Americans That Do Not Have Jobs

 The unemployment crisis in America is much worse than you are being told. Did you know that there are 100 million working age Americans that do not get up in the morning and go to work? No wonder why it seems like there are so many people that do not have jobs! According to the federal government, there are 12.6 million working age Americans that are considered to be "officially" unemployed, but there are another 87.8 million working age Americans that are not working either.

 One killed, scores injured as tornado rips through Japan (PHOTOS, VIDEO)


A massive tornado has swept through eastern Japan, killing a teenager and injuring dozens of others. The twister ripped roofs of buildings, smashed windows and toppled heavy billboards.­The 14-year-old died of injuries received when the roof of a house collapsed. The raging vortex severely damaged over 500 residential buildings, the Japanese Emergency Ministry reported.The tornado resulted in massive power cuts – some 20,000 houses have been left without electricity.The small city of Tsukuba, not far from Tokyo, has suffered the most damage.

New Zealand rattled by twin earthquakes

 May 6, 2012NEW ZELANDTwo earthquakes have hit parts of New Zealand today. A magnitude 4.2 earthquake shook people in the Wellington region and parts of the top of the South Island at 11.33am (9.33am AEST). The tremor was centered 10 kilometers southwest of Wellington, at a depth of 30km, GeoNet says. The second quake, also measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale, struck at 12.31pm and was felt on the west coast of the South Island. It was centered 10km south of Ross at a depth of 15km. Police told AAP they had received no reports of damage.

Nepal flash flood death toll may hit 60

May 6, 2012NEPALThe death toll in a flash flood in Nepal’s central Annapurna region could be as high as 60, according to rescuers scouring the area for survivors. They say there is almost no hope of finding anyone else alive. Fifteen bodies have been recovered but district police superintendent Sailesh Thapa told AFP that 43 missing people, including three Ukrainian tourists, were feared dead. “So far, 12 of the 15 bodies have been identified. An excavator has reached the worst affected areas and is clearing the mud,” he said.

 Will the World End in Your Lifetime?

Twenty-two percent of Americans think the world will end in their lifetime. According to a recent Reuters poll, nearly 15 percent of people worldwide agree. The numbers range from 6 percent in France to 22 percent in Turkey and the U.S.What explains this phenomenon?Some blame the Mayan calendar –10 percent worldwide believe that its conclusion on December 21, 2012 will mark the end of the world. Those with lower education or household income levels are more likely to believe in an apocalypse during their lifetime. So are those who are under 35 years old.
