Video: Hamas Urges Women to Blow Themselves Up 

A Hamas legislator gave a fiery speech, urging women to blow themselves up for the sake of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa mosque.Speaking before the Global March on Jerusalem, Mushri al-Masri addressed a score of Palestinian women in Gaza in a speech broadcast on Hamas Al Aqsa television and translated by the IDF on its website. His constant theme was to sacrifice Arab blood “for the Al Aqsa mosque,” which is on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.



Israel, Greece conduct joint naval drill amid ongoing tension with Turkey

 Israel, the United States and Greece are in the midst of a naval exercise in the Mediterranean Sea, in what Greek media outlets are saying is a message to Turkey following frayed ties with both Israel and Greece.The exercise, called "Noble Dina," involves simulations of combat against submarines, air battles and protection of offshore natural gas platforms. The U.S. Sixth Fleet is also participating in the exercise, which the Greek media, which first reported on it, has described as being meant to send a message to Turkey.


Planned attacks against Israeli soldiers along the Gaza border are on the rise since the latest round of violence three weeks ago, according to the Israel Defense Forces.The IDF has reportedly registered an increase in the number of incidents involving patrols stationed near the Gaza border in the last three weeks. Troops in the Gaza Division located several improvised explosive devises last week along the route running parallel to the fence along the southern Gaza border. 


Fearing a future war with Syria, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.- Gen. Benny Gantz held a surprise drill inspection of two key military bases in the North on Sunday to ensure that they will be able to continue operating in the event of significant missile attacks.

70 Foreign Nations Meet in Istanbul Over Syria
As Assad regime forces continue their slaughter of Syrians, international foreign ministers from 70 different nations gathered as the "Friends of Syria" in Istanbul to meet and debate whether, and if so, how to arm rebel fighters against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria. A women rights’ group is using new crowd-sourcing techniques to track rape and other sexual violence across Syria in one of the first efforts to monitor assaults against women during military conflict as it happens. The effort by the Women’s Media Center aims to shed light on such assaults and provide possible evidence to prosecute future human rights violations and war crimes. The group launched its website on Wednesday and said it was working with multiple Syrian activists whom it did not identify.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s regime will not fall and attempts to overthrow it by force will aggravate the crisis in the region, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki said on Sunday.“It has been one year and the regime did not fall, and it will not fall, and why should it fall?” Maliki told a news conference in Baghdad.“We reject any arming (of Syrian rebels) and the process to overthrow the regime, because this will leave a greater crisis in the region,” Maliki said.

With parliament in the bag, Egypt Islamists eye presidency

Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood, which already controls parliament, is now eyeing the presidency as it seeks to consolidate its newfound power, but the move risks backfiring, analysts say. The Islamist movement announced on Saturday that it would nominate its deputy leader, Khairat al-Shater -- a business tycoon and the group's main financier-- to run for the country's top job. The announcement sent shockwaves through political circles, just two months before the first presidential elections since a popular uprising toppled Hosni Mubarak last year.

Tunisia Islamist leader rules out normal ties with Israel

 The head of Tunisia's governing Islamist party has said the country cannot normalise ties with Israel, the official TAP news agency reported Sunday.
Rached Ghannouchi said that "Tunisians' problem is with Zionism, not with Judaism", but TAP said "the president of Ennahda stressed ... there can be no normalisation with Israel."

150 dead in Libyan tribal clashes reveal vacuum in authority 

Libya's interim government says a ceasefire has been reached in a six-day conflict between two tribes that has claimed some 150 lives in the southern city of Sabha. However, the violence exposes the government's tenuous grasp in the country.Premier Minister Abdel Rahim al-Kib told reporters in the capital Tripoli that "calm now prevails in Sabha." Previous ceasefires had been announced throughout the week, but collapsed within hours each time, as deep-seated local tensions erupted into violence.

Obama and Clinton Turn the Screws on Iran

U.S. President Barack Obama declared Friday that the world market can get along without Iranian oil, and he approved new sanctions to mount more pressure on the Ahmadinejad regime to halt unsupervised nuclear development. The next day, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Tehran that “it is running out of time” before military action may be taken against Iran.

 Mount Etna blows her top for 5th eruption in 2012

April 1, 2012SICILYEurope’s tallest and most active volcano, Mount Etna, has erupted for the fifth time in 2012, spewing hot lava and ash in the early hours of Sunday. The lava, which could be seen moving down the mountain’s side just after 4am local time, continued to spew until around 5.30 am, according to local news reports. Ash from the eruption landed on the villages at the foot of the volcano; however no damage was reported and nearby airports remained open. –ITN

3 earthquakes rumble near New Zealand’s volcanic White Island

April 1, 2012NEW ZEALANDThree earthquakes, the largest measuring magnitude-4.8, have been recorded near volcanic White Island within half-an-hour each other. GNS Science reported a 4.8 quake at 4.08 pm, 110 km north of White Island, which sits off New Zealand in Bay of Plenty. A second quake, measuring 4.7 struck at 4.24 pm, followed by a 4.1 quake at 4.30 pm. All three quakes were shallow, with the focal depth of each quake being measured at between 3 km to 6 km.

Christians mark Palm Sunday in Jerusalem

JERUSALEM (AP) — Hundreds of Christian pilgrims marked Palm Sunday in the Holy Land on Sunday, holding masses and processions retracing Jesus' triumphant return to Jerusalem.
Palm Sunday marks the day Jesus rode into Jerusalem, where he was greeted by cheering crowds bearing palm fronds, according to the Bible.

Wycliffe Undergoes Independent Review of 'Father, Son,' in Bible Translations

Wycliffe Bible Translators, one of the world's biggest Bible translation companies, has agreed to an independent review by the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) of its policies on translating terms such as "God the Father" and "Son of God" after complaints about how the terms are presented in some non-English copies of the Bible.
