Israel has issued a new warning: any terror attack on Israel will be answered with the IDF firing on Hamas and Hizbullah.The new deterrence policy was announced Thursday night by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz at a conference in the Gelilot army base.

Abbas Denies Upcoming Meeting with Netanyahu

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas denied on Thursday the reports that he would meet Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu later this month.Kol Yisrael reported that Abbas, who spoke in a television interview, said that a meeting with Netanyahu is not on the agenda at the moment.

Iran and Hezbollah have significantly stepped up support for embattled Syrian President Bashar Assad, Western intelligence reports have revealed.The reports say that Iranian officers and Hezbollah militants have supplied arms to Syrian troops and trained them, to aid Assad in his months-long effort to crack down on anti-regime protests in the country.

Syria violence worsening as deadline nears: U.N. chief

BEIRUT/UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said Thursday that Syria's conflict is deepening and attacks on civilian areas show no sign of abating, despite assurances from Damascus that it has begun withdrawing troops under an international peace plan.Residents of at least one area under fire from the forces of President Bashar al-Assad poured scorn on the official assertions that troops were pulling back in several cities before a cease-fire which is supposed to start on April 10.
