Police gear to stop 'flytilla' activists at BG Int'l 

Some 650 police officers, mostly in plain clothes, are expected to meet pro-Palestinian activists who will arrive in Israel as part of the protest fly-in scheduled for Sunday. Israel believes some 500-1,000 activists will try to enter Israel en route to the Palestinian Authority. Police sources said that most plain-clothed officers will not be armed.


 PA Minister: 'Palestinians' Must Unite to Destroy Israel

A Palestinian Authority minister stated last month that Fatah and Hamas must unite in order to achieve the destruction of the state of Israel, reported Palestinian Media Watch, on Tuesday.PA Minister of Social Affairs Majida Al-Masri called for ‘Palestinian’ unity in order "to turn to the struggle for the liberation of Palestine - all of Palestine.'"

A ceasefire brokered by former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan has not stopped Syrian President Bashar Assad from continuing to murder rebels, although at a lesser rate than the more than 100 a day that were killed in the past week.Rebels have refused his new ceasefire condition to lay down their arms and instead continue to fight back.

Report: Assad forces fire at Syrian refugee camp in Turkey

Shots were fired Wednesday morning by Syrian forces toward a refugee camp in Turkey, located across the border from Syria, Turkish media reported. CNN-Turk broadcast images showing Syrian forces firing at Turkish territory from a border surveillance building flying the Syrian flag near southeastern Turkey.

TEHRAN (AP) — Special envoy Kofi Annan said Wednesday in Tehran that Iran could help solve the crisis in Syria, where activists reported fresh violence a day before an international cease-fire is supposed to take effect.Iran is one of Syria's strongest allies, and former U.N. chief Annan went there to bolster support for his faltering plan to stop the country's slide toward civil war.

At least 25 killed as fighting against Qaeda enters its third day in southern Yemen

At least 25 militants were killed early on Wednesday in a third day of fighting with Yemeni troops in the south of the country, residents and local officials said.Officials said the clashes took place at Jebel Yasuf, some 10 km (6 miles) from the town of Lawdar, where dozens of people were killed on Monday when fighters from an al-Qaeda-linked group attacked a military camp there.At least a further eight people were killed in continued fighting in the vicinity on Tuesday.

Largest air force exercise in Gulf history takes place with U.S. aircraft carrier group

April 10, 2012 – MIDDLE EAST – At least 200 American and Arab Gulf fighter-bombers thundered overhead Sunday, April 8 at the outset of the biggest air force exercise ever conducted in the Gulf region. They are simulating war with Iran and an operation for reopening the strategic Straits of Hormuz if it is closed by Tehran. Rising global tension: Philippine’s largest warship in tense stand-off with Chinese surveillance vessels

April 11, 2012 – MANILA – The Philippines has said its largest warship is engaged in a tense stand-off with Chinese surveillance vessels at a disputed South China Sea shoal. The confrontation came after the ship attempted to arrest Chinese fishermen, but was blocked by the surveillance craft, the government said. Foreign secretary Albert Del Rosario summoned Chinese ambassador Ma Keqing to resolve the dangerous impasse diplomatically.

Giant Indonesia Quake Sparks Tsunami Warnings 


The U.S. Geological Survey has posted tsunami warnings following a giant 8.9 Richter scale earthquake off the coast of Indonesia.The magnitude of the earthquake was almost as large as the 9.1 quake in Indonesia in 2004 that caused the deaths of nearly a quarter of a million of people.
