 Palestinians fire two rockets into southern Israel

Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired two rockets into rural areas of southern Israel on Monday. One rocket slammed into a field in the Ashkelon Regional Council, failing to cause injuries. A second landed in the neighboring Sha'ar Hanegev Regional Council.The second rocket failed to trigger the Red Alert warning system, and no siren was sounded in the area prior to the falling of the projectile. Authorities were investigating the reason for the failure.

Israel legalizes 3 settlement outposts, adding more obstacles to Mideast peace

Israeli has legalized the status of three settlement outposts in the West Bank, the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement issued on Tuesday. At a meeting late Monday, a ministerial committee “decided to formalize the status of three communities which were established in the 1990s following the decisions of past governments,” said the statement, according to AFP.

The wretched plight of the troops manning Syrian defense divisions defending the Golan border and Mt. Hermon was clearly visible from lookout points on the Israeli side in the last two days, debkafile’s military sources report. The regular water and food supplies to their bases, the backbone of Syria’s defense lines against Israel, were stopped and redirected to the units fighting anti-Assad rebels in other parts of the country. 


Heavy shelling hit the Syrian city of Hama on Monday, opposition activists said, days after the U.N. Security Council voted to send as many as 300 observers to monitor a tenuous cease-fire.
At least 80 people were killed Monday in Syria, 50 of them in Hama and 21 in Idlib, according the Local Coordination Committees of Syria, a network of opposition activists.


Death toll mounts as Saudi Arabia says Syria not committed to Annan’s plan

The Syrian government did not abide by its commitment towards the six-point plan of the U.N.-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan, Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Abdullah al-Muallemy, said. Addressing a Security Council session, the Saudi envoy said that Assad’s regime continues in the killing and suppression of the Syrian people,Al Arabiya reported on Tuesday.Syrian troops killed scores of civilians in the city of Hama, monitors said, as U.N. military observers toured protest centers near the capital.

Ruling military chief vows to defend Egypt’s border with Israel


Egypt’s military ruler said on Monday the armed forces would defend the borders with Israel if necessary, state media reported after an Israeli official voiced concerns about relations between the two neighbors. Ties between Egypt and Israel have been strained since a popular uprising toppled President Hosni Mubarak, who had put a peace treaty with Israel at the center of his regional policy. Israel has also said it was concerned by a security vacuum in Egypt’s Sinai region on its border.

 NKorean military warns of 'special actions' soon

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) — North Korea promised Monday to reduce South Korea's conservative government "to ashes" in less than four minutes, in an unusually specific escalation of recent threats aimed at its southern rival.The statement by North Korea's military, carried by state media, comes amid rising tensions on the Korean peninsula. Both Koreas recently unveiled new missiles, and the North tried unsuccessfully to launch a long-range rocket earlier this month.

Indonesia’s Mount Lokon volcano erupts

April 24, 2012 INDONESIA - North Sulawesi’s Mount Lokon erupted at 10:20 a.m. on Tuesday, after several days of increased activity, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) has announced. The height at which lava shot out of the volcano was unknown because clouds were blocking the full view. The agency declared areas within a 2.5 kilometers radius from the mountain’s peak dangerous and urged nearby residents to stay alert. 


 Ecuador’s Tungurahua volcano blows its top- raining down gravel in neaby town

 April 23, 2012 ECUADOROver the weekend, the Tungurahua’s volcanic eruption had a strong explosion that caused gravel to fall down in the nearby town of Pillate, Ecuador. The explosion, characterized by its loud “cannon ball shot”, was immediately detected by locals and scientists observing the volcano’s progress. The explosion was later followed by a slight tremor and a constant pulsation of “high energy” said reports.
